Little Box returns to help build understanding of how Ronald McDonald House Charities UK support families

Our Little Box is an adorable, fictional character who was brought to life 10 years ago as part of a Ronald McDonald House Charities 2012 Campaign which was run across cinemas and YouTube and some of the comments the video received were so moving so we decided to bring it back.

“I’m in hospital all the time and this advert really touches my heart. I may be 18 but I still find it a scary place to be without my mum”

“Adverts always appear when I try and watch a YouTube video, and I try to avoid them, always waiting impatiently for the ‘skip add in 5 seconds’ to go but when I saw this, I couldn’t help but watch it the whole way through because it was just to cuuute <3”

The story portrays an emotive experience of what it is we provide as a charity. It is filmed from the perspective of a child in hospital, and how scary it can be if you’re on your own.

Alone on the ward, Little Box draws on the fears and insecurities that a child in a big imposing hospital will feel, without the security of having family close by. Waking up alone, the character explores the hospital and at the end of the ad, they are reunited with their parents in a Ronald McDonald House.

Ronald McDonald House Charities UK offers over 500 family rooms each day so families can be near their sick child in hospital.

Anyway you can help, volunteering, gifts, cash or fundraising please get in touch and help families when they need it most.

Q. What does Ronald McDonald House Charities UK do?

A. Ronald McDonald House Charities UK is an independent charity providing free ‘home away from home’ accommodation and support for families with children in hospital. The Charity currently runs 13 Ronald McDonald Houses at partnered NHS Hospitals, offering over 500 rooms for families.

Families can stay in a Ronald McDonald House for as long as they need to. All but one of our Houses are open 365 days a year and all are equipped with everything you would find in a family home. Families can get a good night’s sleep, prepare their own meals and feel at home, knowing that they are only moments away from their child. As well as ensuite bedrooms, we provide communal facilities such as kitchens, dining rooms, playrooms, laundry facilities and outdoor space. Our staff also run activities and events for children staying in our Houses and to bring families together.
